Virat Kohli has assured BCCI that there won’t be any problems in the Indian team’s current dressing room because of his previous altercations with Gautam Gambhir.
According to reports, Virat Kohli promised BCCI that his previous arguments with Gautam Gambhir on the field would not affect their relationship as coach and player. The supporters were apprehensive about Gambhir’s nomination as India’s head coach due to his nasty relationship with Kohli, especially after the Cricket Advisory Committee unanimously approved Gambhir’s employment. There were rumors, if they are to be believed, even in the BCCI.
Prior to Gambhir’s nomination, Kohli was not consulted, according to a previous report from Hindustan Times. Even Gambhir moved in the correct direction. Even though all three of his star players desired a lengthy vacation, he made it plain that he wanted to coach his big three in his debut series in Sri Lanka: captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah.
Taking Gambhir’s decision positively, Kohli and Rohit declared themselves available for the August 2 start of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. On the other hand, Bumrah received a break as part of standard workload management.
Additionally, Kohli told the board that he will get past his previous on-field altercations with Gambhir and collaborate with him to further Indian cricket. Conversations had also occurred in the Indian dressing room following their World Cup triumph in Barbados, per a report in Cricbuzz.
“Kohli has made it apparent to the appropriate BCCI officials that she feels at ease working with Gambhir. Even if their past was characterized by a heated argument that was caught on video during an IPL match, Kohli is rumored to have said that the past won’t have an impact on their working relationship in the locker room. Talks on the subject apparently took place after the World Cup final in Barbados. Like Gambhir, Kohli hails from Delhi. He gave the concerned parties his word that he understood both were working for the good of the nation and that he was prepared to put the past behind them.
Interestingly, during IPL 2024, both Gambhir and Kohli had sincerely tried to mend fences. They were spotted having fun together during the KKR vs. RCB games.
During a PUMA-hosted event, Kohli made fun of the trolls by saying that he let them down by giving Gambhir a hug. “People are really dissatisfied with my actions. After I gave Naveen a hug, Gauti bhai, also known as Gautam Gambhir, came to give me a hug the other day. You’re booing because your masala is over. “We’re no longer children,” Virat had declared at a Puma event.
“Reality and perception are very different. This nation doesn’t need to know about my relationship with Virat Kohli. He and I both have the right to express ourselves and support the success of our respective teams. In an interview following the IPL, Gambhir had stated, “Our relationship is not to give masala to the public.”
